As a production designer I work closely with the director, the director of photography, costume designer and producer.  A production designer uses all the skills of an artist, a craftswoman and sometimes those of an architect.

I am involved right from the initial concept and onward through research, problem solving and building and dressing the set. The key is efficient team work and making the most efficient use of limited funds to achieve the best creative result.

The first job is to break down the script and analyse the needs of the production. Then, a thorou­gh working knowledge of creative and technical disciplines enables me to execute each design concept to bring the story to life.  It is my job to solve any production’s numerous challenges through a blend of imagination, leadership, resourcefulness, experience and planning. It’s a partnership of the design team and the film crew to get the job done on budget and to deadline.
